The Need for Disaster Management and Preparedness in Special Libraries in Nigeria

Abstract

The paper focuses on the need for disaster management and preparedness in special libraries in Nigeria. It examines the history and objectives of special libraries. It also describes and identifies the challenges of disasters in the libraries. The paper suggests different strategies or measures that can reduce or minimize the effects of disaster in the library. Finally, it concludes with a strong suggestion to librarians on the need to put in place disaster management policy that can checkmate the colossal destruction of library resources in the face of disaster.
